Wishes are made in Hong Kong with Chinese Lanterns
The Golden week in Hong Kong will mean that lots of people will be voyaging there at the beginning of October for the week long festival. During the festival, Chinese Lanterns will hang from balconies and in houses and be lit after dark. When the tourists come to the festival, the shops and streets fill with them. Hotel rooms are very hard to come by. People from Chinese mainland also travel to Hong Kong for the gold jewellery which is less expensive and more authentic than from home. There are great fireworks displays during the week, and lots of other smaller festivals, like antiques and art. They sell sweet goodies and children also carry decorative paper lanterns around the streets after dark.
