backing up wii games - use a mod chip?

Undoubtedly we should all backup our wii games pretty soon after we’ve bought them. The discs aren’t cheap and with continual use you get to a stage where they start accumulating little scratches, eventually rendering them unplayable. One of the more popular methods I often see discussed on the Internet as a solution to backing up wii games is to add a modification chip to the motherboard of the wii unit. I would however advise against modding your Wii console. If you break open your Wii then you are automatically voiding your warranty, and for my money that reason alone is why you shouldn’t do it.
